Storm & Snow

Photography Now & Then #93

A narrow band of rain along a cold front raced across western Arkansas earlier today.  We had wind, rain and lighting, and a short period of rain with 1/8 inch accumulating in the rain gage. As front raced east of us, the storm band grew wider and more severe, with numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings. We missed the national news as all of the local stations went to severe weather tracking and reporting.

Temperatures may fall to or below freezing tonight and the long-range forecast is predicting subfreezing temperatures for a couple of nights next week.

We’ve been very fortunate during the cold weather season that is slowly coming to an end.  Some years have been much worse.  As I recall,  2010 – 2011 winter season saw at least 4 measurable snow storms.
