Barbed & Umbrella

Photography Now & Then #118

Not long after we moved here, an acre of land to the east of our property went up for sale.  The price was reasonable, so we bought it, primarily so that no one else would buy it and build on it.  A couple of horses had been kept there, fenced in by barbed wire.  After we bought it, I took down the barbed wire along the highway and between our two pieces of land. Some of the barbed wire was hung on the northwest corner fence post, where it still rests over 30 years later, as shown in the photo.  The other two sides of the barbed wire fence are still up.

The Dane County Farmers Market “Saturday on the Square” is very popular.  We’ve been to it a number of times on our visits to Wisconsin and it’s always crowded, even on rainy days.  It’s located along the sidewalks on the streets  around the tree-lined grounds surrounding the Wisconsin State Capitol building — otherwise known as “the Square” — in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.
