Karen’s new “Presto II” sewing machine is sitting on her adjustable-height multi-purpose quilting table. In the background is her floor to ceiling, wall to wall, design wall, which she uses to lay out her quilts as they evolve. She also uses the wall to display portions of quilts in progress, if there is room.

Delicate Arch3
The iconic Delicate Arch at Arches National Park is a widely recognized symbol of the state of Utah and one of the most famous geologic features in the world. So many people hike the 3 mile roundtrip trail, it’s often difficult to get a picture of the arch without someone in the way. The trail climbs 480 feet from the trailhead near the Wolfe Ranch cabin.
We’ve been out to Delicate Arch twice, both times in late September. It was a nice hike, not too warm. We made sure we had plenty of water and snacks and wore appropriate clothing. We also knew it was with our heath and fitness capabilities. Rangers frequently rescue people who underestimated the trail’s difficulty.
The arch can also be viewed from two viewpoints across a canyon, the Upper Delicate Arch Viewpoint (about 2,050 feet away) and the Lower Delicate Arch Viewpoint (about 3,370 feet away). Both are reached by shorter trails – 100 yards to the lower viewpoint and .5 miles, with stairs to the upper viewpoint.
