Upgraded & Dunes

Photography Now & Then #137

Wanting a portable computer for use on the road later this year, I decided to upgrade a laptop I had purchased a while back.  Somehow, I made a mistake when originally ordering it and ended up with a machine that was deficit in memory and storage.  On the upgrade, I quadrupled both.  My main computer use is photo editing.  The picture below is after the memory and solid-state drive were swapped out, but before the back cover was installed. The photo was edited using the upgraded laptop and everything seemed to work well.

We’ve crossed and visited Colorado numerous times over the years.  On our 2015 trip, we ventured into an area quite unlike any we had ever seen.  We visited dunes in Idaho – the St. Anthony Dunes – in the 1970s and a few years ago visited White Sands National Monument in New Mexico, but the Colorado dunes are in a category all their own.

Colorado’s Great Sand Dunes National Park has huge dunes reminiscent of the iconic images of the Sahara – but it also has trails to forests, wetlands, and alpine lakes in the Sangre de Crisco mountains.
