Hi Mike –
I stumbled onto your site – and really enjoy the photos –
Esp. the great shot of Delicate Arch. These are some
real treasures. Not many around.
I see the Prairie Blush wine from Wollersheim Winery –
they just released a fantastic new Ice Wine
(harvested in Dec. 07) — only about 250 bottles
in the pressing – @ about $50/bottle.
Anyway – here’s a connection
you may or may not have known…about 30 minutes NW
of the Winery is a little visited WI park
called “Natural Bridge State Park”. (No camping –
just a day use park.) It has an arch left after the
Wisconsin Glacier left (about 10,000 years ago)
and they’ve found evidence that it’s been in use by
people for some 500 generations.
Best photo opps in the morning light.

Actually, we went up to Natural Bridge State Park for a picnic and hike. We had gotten to the Prairie du Sac area just before lunch time and we wanted to have our picnic before we went to the winery. You’re right about the light. The light wasn’t good for getting pictures.
My wife is originally from Wisconsin. After she moved to Milwaukee with one of her older sisters, her parents and the nine youngest siblings moved to Arkansas. We met in 1972 at a USO function that was being held at the YWCA. Two weeks later, we decided to get married and five weeks after that, we were, and I took her away from Wisconsin. We didn’t make it back to there until about 2000 or 2001 when we passed through on a mini-vacation on the way to a business meeting in Ohio.
Our son-in-law got of the Air Force last year and landed a pretty good job in the Madison area, about the same time I retired. So far, we’ve been up to visit them 3 times and, in September, we took the opportunity to do a little exploring around the state.

I’ve got a lot of photographs from Wisconsin and other places that I’m sharing on Haw Creek Out ‘n About, Exit78, and Mike’s Photo Blog.
