This was our first trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. We got there on September 22, 2015, traveling from the westernmost part of Oklahoma’s panhandle, and left on September 24, heading to Mesa Verde National Park. In the morning of the 23rd, we hiked through aspen and evergreen forest on part of Mosca Pass Trail. Later in the day, we ventured across the sand flats into the lower dunes.
