Driving & Sunset

Photography Now & Then #102

Clouds heavy with moisture moved in early, presaging the severe weather forecast for later in the day and evening. It’s that time of year, when cool weather systems from the west meet up with warm humid air streaming up from the Gulf of Mexico. One fellow with a British accent on the radio yesterday commented that the “roundy, roundy things” were the only things he disliked about living in Arkansas. He was referring, of course to tornados, which had already damaged property in and around Mountainburg, Arkansas, by late afternoon. Through the evening multiple tornado warnings have been posted.  The worst of the weather has moved past us to the east.

At the end of our last full day in Yellowstone on our 2010 trip, we drove from Fishing Bridge, where we were camped, to Lake Butte Overlook, which affords a great vista view of Yellowstone Lake and the surrounding mountains and forest.  It’s also a fantastic spot to watch the sun set.
