Developing & Music

Photography Now & Then #72

Spring is getting here. We saw a lot more greenery in North Little Rock, which is normal during the seasonal changes as it is a bit further south than we are.  Other than daffodils, forsythia, Bradford pear, and willows, most plants are very far along around here.  Our redbud blossoms have started to develop. They’ll be in full flower in a few days and our azaleas should be blooming soon, as well.

My mother-in-law grew up in Ashland, Wisconsin.  On our last trip to Wisconsin, we spent a few hours in Ashland, exploring and getting a few photos.

It’s difficult to find anything about this structure – the Vaughn Building –  in online searches as there is another building by the same name in Ashland – the Vaughn Library Building.  The three story building was built prior to 1890 as it appeared in The Northwest Magazine, October 1890, page 18, according to Chequamegon History website. It likely housed the store of Samuel Stuart Vaughn, a 19th century business pioneer, capitalist, developer, entrepreneur, and local politician.

Image note: One of the things I like to do with photos of town and city buildings is to eliminate the perspective of the building(s) I’m focusing on so that they appear squared up, as wide at the top as they are at the bottom and as tall on the left as they are on the right.
