Illinois River as viewed from Starved Rock State Park, Illinois – 9/9/2008
On our first major trip in our new Class C motorhome, we traveled to Wisconsin to visit our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. Along the way, we stopped to see a few sights.

Wow, that’s a nice pic!
Mark, Thanks!
I have a friend who just sold his house and bought an RV. His wife and 4-year-old son are going to be traveling the USA soon. Are there any sites/spots you might suggest he stop at for a few days? Thanks again and great blog!
Mark, there are just too many great places that we’ve been to or want to go to to mention in a single blog post or comment. While we’re partial to the Rocky Mountains, we’ve visited wonderful places in other parts of the country — and stumbled across neat places along the way.
The best thing I can suggest is to just start researching. When we started out exploring and camping, our “research” was mostly just by looking at maps and taking off driving. Later, we sometimes bought travel books and sent letters to various Chambers of Commerce and state tourism offices requesting information. With the advent of the internet, our research is mostly looking at maps — online and hard copy — and, then, searching online for information on where we want to go and what’s along the way.
