I actually wrote about this drive last April (here), but the video was made later (August) and I didn’t get around to sharing it until now – don’t exactly know why, just miscellaneous distractions and life in general.
The road with all the switchbacks down Cedar Mesa in the video is the Moki Dugway, built in the late ‘50s to for transporting uranium ore from a mine to a processing mill in Mexican Hat. A sign before you get to it says, “The State of Utah recommends that only vehicles less than 28 feet in length and 10,00 pounds in weight attempt to negotiate this steep (10% grade), narrow, and winding road.”
